PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress retransmission function in accordance with an application to be performed. SOLUTION: A transmitting side performs error correction coding of a frame unit, and a receiving side detects whether an error exists in a received frame on the basis of the error correction code. A retransmission function of a frame unit is provided as a mechanism for correcting an error if a frame error is detected, and if a frame error occurs, the receiving side requests the transmitting side to retransmit the error frame. In such a communication system, whether a retransmission function is necessary in each active application is decided, the result information is stored in a device, and if a frame error occurs (82), a retransmission request to the transmitting side is invalidated with respect to the application according to the result information.
