PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide highly precise detection results by testing the reliability of a skew angle of inputted image data and a skew angle after a correction. SOLUTION: A skew (angle A) of an image of the inputted image data is detected (step S601), the detected skew angle is corrected by an angle (-angle A) offsetting it (step S602), and the corrected angle is tested (step S603). In the test, when the angle is around 0°, the correction is succeeded and it is determined and outputted to be 'highly correct' (step S604). On the other hand, when the tested angle after the correction is large, a first detected angle is determined to be 'incorrect'. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
