METHOD FOR PURIFYING SPHINGOGLYCOLIPID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the purification of a sphingoglycolipid enabling good separation from sterol glycosides and easily obtain the natural sphingoglycolipid having high purity at a low cost. SOLUTION: A component containing a sphingoglycolipid is extracted from animals or vegetables with an organic solvent and the extract is purified by hydrophobic column chromatography to obtain the purified sphingoglycolipid. The purified product has a sphingoglycolipid content of 50-100 mass% and a sterol glycoside content of≤5 mass%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
