PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accidental fire detecting device which is excellent in endurance reliability using no main discharge voltage for generating of applied voltage for accidental fire judging when detecting an accidental fire in an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: In the accidental fire detecting device 1, after mixture gas is ignited by generating a main spark discharge, a primary current 22 is re- conducted during a conducting time Tt for auxiliary discharge, an induction current for auxiliary discharge is generated for a secondary winding 23 in auxiliary discharge conducting time tr, and the fire is judged based on whether or not the auxiliary spark discharge is generated by applying the induction voltage for auxiliary discharge between electrodes of an ignition plug. For this reason, it is necessary to store energy for generating the applied voltage for accidental fire judging applied between the electrodes of the ignition plug 13, it can be controlled to worsen ignition performance followed by generating of applied voltage for accidental fire judging so as to improve the endurance reliability of equipment itself, because it is unnecessary to add an electronic part.
