PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a table identification unit capable of identifying whether a table is a same one or not even if the table read by a scanner is displaced or tilted. SOLUTION: This table identification unit comprises a table reading part 11 for reading a table, an ID adding part 12 for adding an ID to each item of the table read by the table reading part 11, an ID comparison part 13 for comparing to each other the tables having IDs added thereto by the ID adding part 12, a coordinate conversion part 14 for converting the coordinate of the table when the table is determined to be the same one by the ID comparison part 13, and a table shape determination part 15 for identifying the shape of the table from the results determined by the ID comparison part 13. When the table is determined to be the same one by the ID comparison part 13, the ruled line coordinate of the read table is rotated 180°by the coordinate conversion part 14 to provide the converted ruled line coordinate of the table. IDs are allocated again to the items of the table by the ID adding part 12 and the tables are compared again with each other by the ID comparison part 13. When the table is the same one, the table is recognized from the widths and heights of the items with the same ID by the table shape determination part 15. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
