PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a text editor user to prepare a program according to the correct syntax of program language even when the text editor user does not remember specifiable syntax elements or syntax rules. SOLUTION: A text editor operates the syntax analysis of a program language source text 106 which is being edited, and when a text editor user performs a certain specific operation, the text editor judges contexts before and after the current input position from the result of syntax analysis (120) to determine a syntax (122) at the input position, and displays a syntax template window corresponding to the syntax. When the text editor user selects or inputs the selection item or input item of the displayed syntax template window, and performs completion processing, the syntax corresponding to the operation performed to the syntax template window by the text editor user is inserted into the input position.
