PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a barrier moving mechanism for a camera whose design is not spoiled by restraining the exposure of a guide rail on the front of the camera to the minimum and restraining the backlash and the lifting of a barrier. SOLUTION: The barrier moving mechanism for the barrier capable of moving to a closing position where a lens barrel is covered and an opening position where the lens barrel is exposed along the front of a camera main body is equipped with guide means (members 74 and 72) provided at a position where it is always shielded by the barrier regardless of the movement of the barrier, and guiding the movement of the barrier, the guide rail (10a) provided on the front of the camera main body and extended in a barrier moving direction, and an engaging member (78) provided on the barrier opening side of the barrier and engaged with the guide rail.
