PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a violet color capable of manifesting a hue with strong blue which was obtained only by mixing dioxazine violet and Cu-phthalocyanine, singly without containing a metal, and to provide a pigment which gives a printing ink, a paint and a colored plastic molded article having the hue, with reduced effect to the environment, and is hard to cause color segregation. SOLUTION: The epindolinedithione compound expressed by general formula 1 and the bluish purple pigment comprising the compound. (In the general formula 1, each R is a same or a different 1-4C alkyl group or a halogen atom. The examples of alkyl group with 1-4 carbon atoms are methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, iso-propyl, n-butyl, iso-butyl, tert-butyl, etc., fluorine, chlorine, iodine, etc., are cited as the halogen atom.).
