<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of a plasma display panel in which reset discharge and erase discharge are surely induced without deteriorating contrast and stable address discharge is realized. <P>SOLUTION: In the panel, a plurality of first electrodes and a plurality of second electrodes are arranged in parallel so that they are made adjacent to each other and a plurality of third electrode are arranged to cross the first and the second electrodes. Discharge cells are defined in the crossing regions of these electrodes and the driving method of the panel includes a reset period, an address period, and a sustain discharge period. The driving method includes a step of applying a first pulse in which an applied voltage is increased with time to the second electrode and generating first electric discharge between the first and the second electrodes, and a step of applying a second pulse in which an applied voltage is reduced with time to the second electrode and generating second electric discharge between the first and the second electrodes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
