PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus (e.g. an infrared imaging system) capable of replacing defective pixels by simplified structure without requiring an average value operation function, a memory for storing average value, a differential operation function and a difference decision function. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is constituted so that writing of addresses AD15 to AD0 as pixel replacement information to an address memory 24 is automatically performed when a shutter 31 is shut, pieces of digital video data VD7 to VD0 to be outputted from a signal processing circuit 21 are written in a frame memory 22 according to the addresses A15 to A0 to be outputted from the signal processing circuit 21 in the case of image pickup and after that, pieces of the digital video data written in the frame memory 22 are read according to the addresses AD15 to AD0 stored in the address memory 24.
