PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide display easy to watch by prohibiting conversion to half angle/bold when editing temporarily written display data. SOLUTION: The display device has a display 1, a driver 2 for driving the display, a memory card 7 for storing the size codes of characters indicating full angle/half angle and modification codes indicating bold/standard characters, a CPU 3 for converting data to dot data corresponding to code data on the memory card 7 and transferring the data to the driver 2 and a remote controller 13 for editing the code data stored on the memory card 7. In such a display device, when it is instructed to convert the character of full angle/bold to half angle by the remote controller 13, the CPU 3 converts the character to a half angle standard character.
