PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for displaying a multicolor image and a multicolor image display excellent in resistance to repeated image writing and erasure with light and having good colors of an image. SOLUTION: An image display medium (1) with a photosensitive layer in which at least one of two or more photochromic compounds different from each other in wavelength at the maximum absorption is a spiroxazine compound or a diarylethene compound is subjected to at least a step for allowing all the photochromic compounds contained in the photosensitive layer to color by irradiation with an ultraviolet light source (4) and a step for selectively decoloring each photochromic compound by irradiation with visible light in a wavelength band corresponding to wavelength at the absorption maximum of each photochromic compound which has been allowed to color from an LED (light emitting diode) array 1 (5), an LED array 2 (6) and an LED array 3 (7).
