PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more thin the entire overlay thickness of two liquid crystal panels in a liquid crystal display element in which the two liquid crystal panels respectively provided with a back light are overlaid back to back and used. SOLUTION: The light guide plates 12a and 22a of the respective back lights 11 and 21 of the liquid crystal panels 10 and 20 are formed into an wedge shape for which light incident surfaces 121 and 221 facing light sources 13 and 23 and light emission surfaces 122 and 222 facing the liquid crystal panels 10 and 20 are almost perpendicular, light reflection surfaces 123 and 223 on a back side are slopes and the included anglesθ<SB>a</SB>andθ<SB>b</SB>of the light emission surface and the light reflection surface are almost the same. The respective included angles are turned to an alternate angle relation and the light reflection surfaces 123 and 223 are arranged facing each other. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
