PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy material having an excellent strength (particularly the yield strength), heat resistance and bending workability compared to the conventional 1000-series aluminum alloys. SOLUTION: The aluminum alloy material is a hot-rolled material of a 1000-series aluminum alloy defined by JIS, comprising a mixed structure of a fiber structure and a subgrain structure, wherein the 0.2% yield strength obtained after heating at 260°C for 2 hr is≥85% of that obtained before heating. The aluminum alloy material allows no cracking when bent in the direction perpendicular to the rolling direction in OR 90 degrees bending. The fiber structure retains a moderate strength, while the subgrain structure retains a high heat resistance, thereby inhibiting generation of bulky recrystallized grains and surface roughening at the bent part. The subgrain structure also prevents a crack from propagating along the grain boundary in the fiber structure at bending and therefore inhibits the occurrence of cracks. The aluminum alloy material is easily manufactured by homogenizing an ingot under a predetermined condition and subsequently subjecting it to hot finishing rolling at a predetermined finishing temperature.
