PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rhodamine dyestuff having an emission spectrum region which is substantially narrower than those of rhodamine dyestuffs presently available or having an absorption spectrum region which shifts by up to about 15 nm in the direction of the red side when compared with those of the rhodamine dyestuffs presently existing, and to provide a labeled nucleotide given by using the same. SOLUTION: This labeled nucleotide is given by using a 4,7-dichlororhodamine dyestuff, wherein the nucleotide comprises a deoxynucleotide, a dideoxynucleotide or a polynucleotide. A method for determining a sequence of the polynucleotide includes a process for analyzing its fragment and another process for utilizing the dyestuff as a reagent. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
