MATCHING METHOD FOR ADDRESS INFORMATION WITH POSITION COORDINATES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the preciseness in giving the position coordinates such as longitudes and lattitudes to any address information. SOLUTION: Each client 200 is connected with a server 100 via a network, and position coordinates are given on the basis of an address file fed from the client 200. The server 100 is furnished with an lattitude and longitude database 116 in which the addresses are put in correspondence to position coordinates. When the position coordinates corresponding to the fed address are to be searched from the database, searching the position coordinates further into detail is made for each hierarchy on the basis of the administrative division. Therefore the search can be made while any poorly prepared items in the fed address information are complemented for each hierarchy, and the searching preciseness can be enhanced.
