PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which image persistence and display unevenness are scarcely generated and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 1 is characterized by being provided with a pair of substrates 2, 3 placed opposite to each other and a liquid crystal layer 4 sandwiched between a pair of the substrates 2, 3 and composed of a liquid crystal material containing a plurality of kinds of liquid crystal substances wherein every substance out of a plurality of kinds of the liquid crystal substances has positive dielectric anisotropy and a difference between the maximum and minimum values of dielectric anisotropy of a plurality of kinds of the liquid crystal substances is 12 or less.
