<p>A method of forming a boss side spline (5), comprising the steps of providing an annular excess part (7), inserting a spline-forming male die (10) into the boss part (2) of a sheet metal rotating member (1) having the root part (8) of the boss part (2) and a peripheral edge part (3) displaced from each other beforehand, setting the boss (2) to a fixed die (11) by fitting into the boss part fitting hole (9A) of a rotating member holding die (9), holding the annular excess part (7) by a pressing die (12) and the fixed die (11) to deform the annular surplus part in flat shape, and pushing the root part (8) of the boss part (2) into a spline-forming groove (10C) to elastically deform the root part so as to deform the boss side spline (5), whereby the wall thickness of the sheet metal material is avoided from increasing to assure the strength of the boss part and achieve a reduction in weight, a production efficiency can be increased remarkably, and chips can be eliminated to avoid adverse effects on a working environment.</p> |
