Spindle brake function monitoring method using evaluation of difference in power requirement of spindle drive motor before and during braking

The monitoring method has the spindle (1) rotated by an electric motor (5) and braked by operation of the brake (6), with detection of the variation in the motor power requirement, for evaluation of the brake function from the difference in the motor power requirement before and during braking. An Independent claim for a device for monitoring a spindle brake is also included.
