The compound sleeve has a metal tube (2) acting as inner blocking layer, provided with an outer plastics mantle (3), the metal tube having a wall thickness of between 0.1 and 0.5 mm and the plastics mantle having a thickness of at least 1 mm and bonded to the metal tube via an adhesive layer. The plastics mantle may be enclosed by a wear-resistant outer plastics layer (5).
