<p>The present invention relates to protein tyrosine phosphatase ('PTPase') inhibitors, and the use of PTPase inhibitors and PTPase inhibitors in combination with cytokines to treat diseases. Leishmaniasis agents have surprisingly and unexpectedly been found to be potent PTPase inhibitors. Examples of leishmaniasis agents that are also PTPase inhibitors include, but are not limited to, pentavalent antimonial compounds, imidazole compounds, and diamidine compounds. Therapeutic compositions and methods are provided that make use of these compounds to treat diseases.</p> |
