A self assembly car port is assembled from lightweight sections with a minimum of required skill and without special foundations. The uprights have adjustable ground support plates and their top ends have fittings for roof support frames. The sides and closed end are fitted with panels and are secured by cross braces, or the panels can be designed to be secured with adjustable tensile mountings. The roof panels are secured onto cross members fitted to the roof supports. At least four uprights are required. Additional uprights support an extension to the car port.
