RESORPTION-CONTROLLED BONE IMPLANTS

Biomaterials useful to induce the local growth and/or repair of bone tissue are described. The biomaterials incorporate a resorbable matrix doped with an inhibitor of cell-mediated acidification to control the rate at which the matrix is resorbed in vivo. In embodiments, the matrix is a near ambient CAP cement, and the inhibitor is a proton pump inhibitor, such as a macrolide-based antibiotic, especially bafilomycin.
