REPRODUCTION CONTROL METHOD, PROGRAM, AND RECORDING MEDIUM

For protecting copyright, there is provided a reproduction control method capable of limiting reproduction of music data or the like by a medium reproduction apparatus such as a disc drive apparatus by using an information processing apparatus such as a personal computer. By monitoring a data read instruction recorded in a predetermined format on a recording medium and issued from a calculation main body (application OS) of an information processing apparatus to a medium reproduction apparatus (such as a disc drive apparatus), a copyright protection processing is performed for protecting copyright when issuing of a read instruction of data recorded in a predetermined format is confirmed. The copyright protection processing performs processing to inhibit reproduction-and-recording or allow it conditionally by using a command and data conversion.
