An underpants-type disposable wearing article (1) has a first leg-encircling elastic member (3) attached to the leg-encircling lateral portion (15) of an outer sheet (2), and a second trunk-encircling elastic member (4) attached to the trunk-encircling end (13) of the sheet (2). In this article (1), the sheet (2) and the second elastic member (4) are transversely stretched by a predetermined magnification, and while the first elastic member (3) is being stretched circumferentially of the leg by a predetermined magnification, the sheet (2) and the elastic members (3, 4) are fixed together. The shrunk dimensions of the sheet (2) and first elastic member (3), as measured circumferentially of the leg, are substantially the same, and the transverse shrunk dimensions of the feet (2) and the first elastic member (4) are substantially the same. The trunk-encircling end (13) and leg-encircling lateral portion (15) are substantially flat. |
