New polymer latex based on carbohydrate surfactant with radically-polymerizable groups, used for e.g. production of diagnostics carriers, coating materials, adhesives, sealants and cosmetic products

Polymer latex (PL) based on (A) a carbohydrate or carbohydrate derivative with surfactant properties substituted with a radically-polymerizable group, other than lattices produced from a polystyrene seed latex, 6-(2-methylpropenoyloxy)-hexyl-beta-D-cellobioside and a comonomer selected from styrene and methyl methacrylate, is new. An Independent claim is also included for a method for the production of (PL) in which the monomer forming the dispersed polymer is polymerized by radical-induced emulsion polymerisation.
