A capacitive load driving circuit (1) for charging/discharging a capacitive load (11), comprising a voltage divider (5) for dividing a power supply voltage (VH) into a plurality of mutually different voltages (V1-V9); a plurality of capacitors (2a-i) in which the respective voltages (V1-V9) are charged as terminal voltages; and a switch (7) for switching connections between the capacitive load (11) and the capacitors (2a-i); wherein during charging of the capacitive load (11), the switch (7) connects the capacitors (2a-i) in increasing order of terminal voltage such that electrostatic energy is supplied to the capacitive load (11), and wherein during discharging of the capacitive load (11), the switch (7) connects the capacitors (2a-i) in decreasing order of terminal voltage such that the electrostatic energy is retrieved from the capacitive load (11). In this way, there can be provided a capacitive load driving method and a capacitive load driving circuit having a simple circuit structure and capable of efficiently retrieving and reutilizing the energy stored in the capacitive load.
