A method of planning machining when performing machining by using a finishing machine positioned by an XY stage and a galvano-scanner, comprising the steps of dividing a machining position by a rectangle having a length equal to or less than a machining area width in a direction vertical to the advancing direction of the XY stage (12) and positioned parallel with the arrangement direction of a work (10), determining the operating speed of the XY stage and a machining position visiting order in the machining rectangles so that the total machining time in the machining rectangles determined by the division is minimum, and determining the operating route of the XY stage based on the position of the determined machining rectangles and operating speed of the XY stage at the inlet and outlet of the machining rectangles, whereby the speed, acceleration, route, and boring position visiting order in machining can be efficiently planned to reduce a machining time.
