A mixing device comprises a mixing helix (1) held in a mixing chamber to rotate about an axis of rotation, and a balancing mixing tool (10) for rotating with and at a distance to the mixing helix. A partial region of the mixing tool is progressively displaced on the front end (1a) of the helix in the rotating direction by less than 180 degrees and axially displaced against the rising direction of the helix. Preferred Features: The mixing tool is arranged in the same radial region as the mixing helix. The front end of the mixing helix directly rotates over the mixing chamber floor.
