PURPOSE: An electrophotographic printer and a method for controlling the printer are provided to set a process factor suitable for the thickness of print paper supplied during a printing process to obtain uniform printing quality irrespective of the thickness of print paper. CONSTITUTION: An electrophotographic printer includes a main body, a developing unit(20), a transfer unit(40), a fixing unit(50), and a process factor controller. The main body has a print paper supply, a print paper feeder, and a paper transfer path. The developing unit is located on the paper transfer path and develops an electrostatic latent image formed on a photosensitive drum with a toner. The transfer unit transfers the toner image of the photosensitive drum to print paper. The fixing unit applies heat and pressure to the print paper that has passed between the photosensitive drum and transfer unit to fix the toner image transferred to the print paper. The process factor controller variably controls a process factor of each unit according to the thickness of print paper supplied from the print paper supply.
