Sabot for arrow type projectiles

The shoe (22) for an arrow-type missile (1) e.g. of tungsten or uranium alloy consists of at least three lengthwise bars (4a, 4b) of constant thickness and with indentations to match the outer surface of the missile's penetrator (2), as well as a thrust plate (5) of the required calibre fixed to the bars. The bars are of prismatic cross-section and have a thickness close to that of the penetrator, and each one has a lug (7) at its forwards end to guide it in the barrel of the firing weapon. The thrust plate is made from three linked sectors of the same material as the bars and can be made in one piece with them.
