Apparatus for controlling insects or their larvae comprises a vehicle provided with systems for spraying, nebulizing, injecting, blowing or inserting a dispersion of microencapsulated adhesive onto or into crop plants, such that when the treated plants are consumed the microcapsules are broken in the feeding/digestion organs of the insects to release the adhesive and 'gum up' the feeding/digestion organs. An Independent claim is included for the microcapsulated active agent (i.e. adhesive).
