The handlebar has a column comprising a head tube 4 with a hinge joint assembly 5 retained in a front wheel fork pivoting tube 3 by a quick-release clamp 1 on the tube 3 and having a positioning piece 2 with a conical end 22 engageable with corresponding axially aligned grooves 512, 522 in upper and lower sections 51, 52 of the joint assembly. For normal use, the conical end 22 is adjacent the upper end of the groove 512 with the hinge assembly enclosed by the tube 3 so that turning movements of the handlebar pivot the front wheel. For folding, the clamp 1 is released, the head tube 4 raised so that the conical end 22 lies adjacent the bottom end of the groove 522 with the joint assembly 5 exposed for handlebar folding. The lower joint assembly section 52 has a circumferential groove 524 at the bottom end of the groove 522 so that the handlebar can be turned for folding down adjacent the frame without pivoting the front wheel. |
