Mine stopping and braces therefor

A mine stopping is installed in a mine passageway includes a elongate panels 18, 19, 20 extending vertically in side-by-side relation from a floor to a roof of the passageway to at least partially close the passageway. A horizontal elongate brace or braces 35 extends between the walls of the passageway adjacent to the panels and attached thereto. A vertical column 70 extends from the floor to the roof and reinforces the brace. A horizontal anchor beam extends between the passageway walls adjacent the panels and connected to the passageway floor and/or roof. The braces are extendable to cater with different sized passageways. There may be an inclined brace engaging the passageway floor and the panels, Fig 10.
