The paper feeder for a scanner or printer comprises an upper section (10) with a low torsion axis which runs through the center of the paper feed direction. A lower section (20) is fastened to it so that it can swivel by a bar which passes through holes (22) at the paper inlet end (12). A separate reinforcing strip (30) fits on top of the first section so that torsion is prevented during feeding.
