<p>This novel composite sheet comprises a base layer, to which a so-called hetero-sheet is bonded. The latter includes a matrix, a stretchable, thermoplastic base material, which after processing is partially crystalline or amorphously hardened. This sheet also contains a dispersion of added particles, which can be mixed-in and extruded with the thermoplastic, forming a heterogeneous mixture. The particles are at least partially released from the matrix during a subsequent mechanical process. Thus numerous regions of the surface are raised to form a velvety texture. Also claimed is a process to make the composite sheet, as described, with the following additional features. Carrier sheet elastomer may or may not have high expansibility and resilience. The composite is stretched, within its limiting extensibility; to releases and expose the particles. On release, the composite retracts fully or partly, the particles still projecting.</p> |
