Exhaust system for a work vehicle

The system has a bypass pipe (70) in an exhaust pipe (54) located upstream of a primary muffler (72). A diaphragm (94) is provided to manipulate a damper (84) that acts to control the exhaust flow to the primary muffler. When the exhaust pipe is closed maximum noise attenuation is obtained. When the exhaust pipe is open it provides reduced flow restriction, and effectively bypasses the primary muffler.
