PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aliphatic-aromatic polyester composite resin material excellent in moldability and mechanical strengths, containing at least one kind of a biomass material such as cellulose, lignocellulose or starch. SOLUTION: A method for producing the composite resin composition excellent in moldability and strength characteristics comprises heating and kneading or the like of the composition containing 5-95 wt.% aliphatic-aromatic polyester (component A), 95-5 wt.% cellulose, lignocellulose or starch material (component B), 0.2-30 wt.% of sum of the components A and B unsaturated carboxylic acid or derivative thereof (component C) and 0.01-2 wt.% of an organic peroxide, which are subjected to modification reaction that uses relatively predominant maleroylification of the biomass material over an adduct of the aliphatic- aromatic polyester maleic anhydride, in comparison with using a polymer having methyl group such as polypropylene or polylactic acid.
