PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a transition metal complex useful as an olefin polymerization catalyst. SOLUTION: The transition metal complex represented by formula (1) is provided (wherein, M is a transition metal atom of the group 4; A is an atom of the group 15; R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>5</SP>, R<SP>6</SP>, R<SP>7</SP>, R<SP>8</SP>and R<SP>9</SP>are each H, an alkyl, an aryl, an aralkyl, an alkoxy, an aryloxy, an aralkyloxy, a hydrocarbon- substituted silyl, or a 1-20C hydrocarbon-substituted amino group; X<SP>1</SP>and X<SP>2</SP>are identical or different from each other and are each H, a halogen atom, an alkyl, an alkoxy, an aryl, an aryloxy, an aralkyl, an aralkyloxy, a hydrocarbon-substituted silyl or a 1-20C hydrocarbon-substituted amino group; X<SP>1</SP>and X<SP>2</SP>or neighboring R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>5</SP>, R<SP>6</SP>, R<SP>7</SP>, R<SP>8</SP>and R<SP>9</SP>may form a bond to form a ring; and an olefin part comprising A, R<SP>8</SP>and R<SP>9</SP>may be a single isomer or a mixture of isomers).
