PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide spherical silica particles containing fine particles of an iron-based oxide wherein silica particles are excellent in the heat resistance, the surface stability, the water resistance, the compatibility with a resin, and the dispersibility and the fluidity in a resin, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The spherical silica particles containing fine particles of an iron-based oxide is characterized in that those silica particles are comprised of fine particles of an iron-based oxide and silicon oxide containing the fine particles of the iron-based oxide, and in that those silica particles are non-porous and completely spherical and have an average particle diameter of 0.05-10μm. Wherein, the average particle diameter of the fine particles of the iron-based oxide is 500 nm or less, the iron-based oxide exists in 1-50 wt.% when the total of the iron-based oxide and the silicon oxide is 100 wt.%, the fine particles of the iron-based oxide are fine particles of a magnetic iron oxide, the coercive force of the magnetic iron oxide is 50-1,200 [Oe], and the silica particles have a completely spherical shape of a sphericity in the range of 0.8-1.0.
