PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method not generating color irregularity due to printing order and excellent in optical density, blur resistance, blur resistance between colors and drying time, and an image forming apparatus excellent in high speed properties. SOLUTION: In the image forming method and the image forming apparatus, at least two color inks are printed on a recording medium using an ink set constituted of at least two color inks, and a liquid composition having action for flocculating the inks and characterized in that the average value of the temporal change ratios of contact angles of the respective inks to plain paper is 1.25°/s, the temporal change ratios of the contact angles of the respective inks to plain paper are below 4.5°/s, the temporal change ratios of the contact angles of mixed liquids of the respective inks and the liquid composition to plain paper are 5-10°/s, and the numbers of coarse particles with a particle size of 5μm or more in the mixed liquids of the respective inks and the liquid composition are 1×10<SP>4</SP>/μL or more. Thereafter, the liquid composition is printed on the ink printed on the recording medium to form an image containing at least a secondary color pattern. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
