PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cushioning material having a shape which is hardly broken even by the dropping of corners and ridges. SOLUTION: The cushioning material made of a synthetic resin foam has corner receiving faces which are brought into contact with corners of a packed body having corner ridge portions, and ribs which are brought into contact with wall faces of the packed body through non-contact portions having a predetermined length from the corner receiving faces. The corner receiving faces and the ribs are provided on peripheral walls of packed body receiving faces of the cushioning material. The relations of each corner receiving face, each non-contact portion and each rib are such that (1) the width (a) of each corner receiving face is 8-20 mm, (2) the length (b) of each non-contact portion from the corner receiving face to the rib is b≥2a, and (3) the depth (c) of each non-contact portion with respect to the wall thickness (t) of the cushioning material of each corner receiving face and each rib is c=1/2t to 2/3t.
