PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound which selectively inhibits CEPT (cholesterol ester-transferring protein) activity. SOLUTION: This CETP inhibitor contains a compound represented by formula (I) or its salt [wherein each of X<SB>1</SB>-X<SB>4</SB>and Y<SB>1</SB>-Y<SB>5</SB>is hydrogen atom or an optional substituent; Z is represented by the formula (II): -Z<SB>1</SB>-Z<SB>2</SB>(wherein Z<SB>1</SB>is CO or the like; Z<SB>2</SB>is hydrogen atom, methoxy group, methyl group, amino group, or the like); A is (a) a di-substituted amino group; X<SB>2</SB>and X<SB>3</SB>, X<SB>3</SB>and X<SB>4</SB>or X<SB>4</SB>and A jointly form a homo- or hetero-cyclic group which may have a substituent].
