PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording apparatus preventing the generation of the clogging of the nozzle of a head caused by the adhesion of a paper powder or waste refuse, in case of applying high speed recording to various papers including plain paper and capable of performing printing of high reliability. SOLUTION: An air flow is formed between a housing in which a recording medium feed mechanism is housed and a housing having a recording head arranged thereto to reduce the penetration of the paper powder or waste refuse into the housing having the recording head arranged thereto. A feeding metal guide coming into contact with the back surface of a recording medium 3 is provided in opposed relation to the recording head. The nozzle plate 20 of the recording head 4 is set to earth potential, and DC voltage having polarity (negative) reverse to the polarity (positive) of the charge of the paper powder is applied to the feeding metal guide 18.
