PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a displacement face protection mechanism for a machine tool which keeps smooth displacement movements of a table by a simpler constitution with fewer components and favorable protection of displacement face. SOLUTION: When an upper table 32R displaces along with sliding surface 30R, a second cover member 76 which covers the sliding surface 30R trindles with a central focus on a third axis member 85. A first member 74 which is connected to the second cover member 76 via a second axis member 82 trindles with a central focus on a first axis member 81 which is connected to a lower table 22R.
