PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric cleaner which can prevent certainly generation of an arc at the time of taking out the battery. SOLUTION: By having the battery in the battery housing chamber 34 of the main part 1 of the cleaner, a battery cover is attached in a battery housing opening 31. A discharge prevention switch 39 is turned on and supply of the electric current from the battery to an electric blower becomes possible. The discharge prevention switch 39 is turned off by removing the battery cover from the battery housing opening 31, and the electric current from the battery to the electric blower is stopped. The generation of the arc at the time of cancelling the electric connection of the battery can be prevented even in the state in which the electric blower is driven by the battery.
