STABLE MICROBUBBLE SUSPENSION INJECTABLE INTO ORGANISM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an injectable composition which is useful for the ultrasonic inspection of the bloodstream and coelom of an organism and is a stable suspension containing microbubbles of air or of a physiologically allowable gas suspended in an aqueous liquid carrier. SOLUTION: This injectable suspension comprises a physiologically allowable carrier phase, microbubbles of air or a gas surrounded by a gas/liquid interface, and a surfactant of about 0.01 to about 20 wt.% dissolved or dispersed in the carrier. The surfactant contains at least one film-forming saturated phospholipid existing at least partly in a lamella form or a laminate form in the suspension. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
