BLOOD-GAS SYRINGE WITH IMPROVED BLOOD BARRIER NATURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate separation of air and blood in sampling blood.

SOLUTION: A blood-gas syringe includes a porous plastic plug having a crosslinked hydrogel sticking to a wall of a passageway of the plug. The introduced sample forces air in a system out through the passageway of the plug until the sample contacts the hydrogel to hermetically seal the passage way, when the blood sample is sampled with the syringe.
