PAPER SLITTING AND WINDING METHOD AND DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the productivity and quality of a device for efficiently slitting fine and winding as threads a roll of paper prepared mainly from a raw material of Manila hemp for the purpose of producing paper yarn. SOLUTION: The device for slitting paper fine and winding it has a friction plate brought into direct contact with a roll surface to brake it uniformly irrespective of a roll diameter, so that the speed of a slitter can be increased. A winder is arranged at a slant to the slitter when winding many slit tapes. A paper tube is driven by two rollers to increase stability at high speed. A stop of winding is slightly delayed from delivery from the slitter to continuously tension the slit threads and thus prevent cob webbing. The speed of a traverse is slowed at a turn to prevent cob webbing at a selvage. The traverse speed is varied between back-and-forth strokes to prevent ribboning and prepare an easy-to-unwind package. A traverse width is reduced gradually. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
