PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dredger and a method of discharging sediment of the dredger capable of performing a dredging operation efficiently. SOLUTION: In this dredger including a sediment loading hold 1 for loading sediment on the bottom, a sediment loading means for loading the sediment on the bottom to the hold 1, and a discharging means (conical valve 9) for discharging the sediment loaded in the hold to outside the dredger, part or all of the bottom surface of the hold 1 is configured to form inclined surfaces 18 and 19 whose angles of inclination are smaller than the angle of repose of the sediment, and a jet nozzle 17 is provided for jetting water along the inclined surfaces 18 and 19 and toward the discharging means (conical valve 9).
